Gasparilla Island State Park

GASPARILLA ISLAND STATE PARK is a half-hour drive from your villa and it’s likely to draw you over for several visits during your stay.

Separated from the mainland by Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound, Gasparilla Island State Park is part of a chain of Gulf Coast barrier islands.

As you make your way across the Boca Grande Causeway (private toll) at County Road 775 and Placida there’s bound to be an escort from a feathered friend of some description.

The centerpiece of Gasparilla is the restored Boca Grande Lighthouse, built in 1890. Swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and nature study are also popular activities on the island.

Shelling is particularly good in the winter months. Two picnic areas offer pavilions for shade and scenic views of the surrounding water.

The lighthouse is open to the public 10am to 4pm daily and on Sundays noon to 4pm. from November to April. From May to July and September tol October it is open Wednesday to Sunday. The lighthouse is closed during August. It is closed on these major holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. (United States National Holiday dates)

You can just enjoy the beautiful scenery, or join in with some of the many varied activities, as detailed below:
